Social barriers
Social groups can be challenging for neurodivergent people for a wide range of reasons. Some people respond by not attending. Some attend once and leave. Some stay only by masking heavily, which can make participation exhausting and short-lived.
Dedicated groups
Our response is to work with existing providers to create dedicated groups for neurodivergent people, including training and the provision of a support person to help with specific needs in the classes and workshops. We also support intake, matching, preparing participants and evaluation.

Sustaining groups
The Divergence team is rolling this out as a new service and plans to fund activities using a blended model which brings in funding from various sources to cover the costs of our support.
Our goal is that group providers should not incur costs beyond those for the regular groups. We expect them to increase activity and revenues through the addition of neurodivergent-specific classes.
It is likely that we will need to jointly seek funding before new group support activity can start, and we can support that process.
